About Us

Kerala State IT Mission

Kerala State Information Technology Mission (KSITM) is a Society registered under the Travancore Cochin Literary Scientific and Charitable Societies Registration Act (Act 12 of 1955). It is an autonomous nodal IT implementation agency for Department of Information Technology, Government of Kerala which provides managerial support to various initiatives of the Department.
KSITMs main activities revolve around the E-Governance activities and strengthening the IT infrastructure of the state of Kerala. Presently KSITM is handling about 40 projects in various fields. The organizations like NIC, KELTRON, CDIT & CDAC are the working partners of KSITM for implementation of projects. Notable projects that got national attention are:
E-Governance Projects: FRIENDS (A single window remittance centre where the citizens can pay all taxes and other dues to the Government under one roof at no extra cost), E-Krishi (A market driven agricultural initiative through IT enabled agro business centres to help the farmers) & Sutharya Keralam (An initiative to bring the complaints and grievances of citizens directly to the notice of the Chief Minister in order to bring the transparency in the function of Government).
MESSAGE (Paperless Fileflow system for Govt offices), IDEAS (File tracking system for Govt offices) & SPARK (Personnel, Payroll & Accounts information system for the Govt employees of the state of Kerala).
Mobile Governance Projects: Kerala is one of the first states in the country to bring out a comprehensive Mobile policy connecting all state government departments and Citizens (via the 14+ telecom operators in state)through a single Service Delivery Platform Dr. SMS (A medical & health information system for people in Kerala. Dr SMS is one of 20 services that mobile users in Kerala will be able to access when the state launches a "mobile platform" in July 2010.
IT Infrastructure Projects: Datacentre, KSWAN (State Wide Area Network of Govt of Kerala), SECWAN & Video Conference.
Human Resource Projects: Akshaya (An IT literate initiative of government of Kerala. As a part of this initiative, at least one person in each of the 65 lakh families in the State will be made IT-literate), IT@school, SPEED IT, MASS HR & PG Program in E-Governance, FOSS finishing school (It is an attempts to make-up for the deficiencies of students at low-tier colleges/institutes by providing specialized training in hard skills and soft skills with a vision to make individuals more employable), Red Hat training (Free training for faculty members by Red Hat) & Insight (It is a training program for visually challenged persons).

Aadhaar

Aadhaar is a 12-digit individual identification number issued by the Unique Identification Authority of India on behalf of the Government of India.This number will serve as a proof of identity and address, anywhere in India. Any individual, irrespective of age and gender, who is a resident in India and satisfies the verification process laid down by the UIDAI can enrol for Aadhaar. Each individual needs to enroll only once which is free of cost. Each Aadhaar number will be unique to an individual and will remain valid for life. Govt of India has already taken steps to bring services likes LPG connection under Aadhaar. Govt of Kerala might also bring facilities like pension schemes, scholarships for students and other benefits under Aadhaar soon. Some other information about Aadhaar:

Easily verifiable in an online, cost-effective way. Unique and robust enough to eliminate the large number of duplicate and fake identities in government and private databases. A random number generated, devoid of any classification based on caste, creed, religion and geography.

Facts about Aadhaar enrolment in Kerala:

IT Department, Government of Kerala is the registrar for UID enrolment in Kerala. Kerala State IT Mission is the nodal agency in Kerala appointed by the Government of Kerala for UID enrolment. Akshaya and Keltron are the two enrolment agencies appointed by KSITM for UID enrolment. There are about 700 enrolment stations and enrolling machines (for both Akshaya and Keltron) spread over Kerala.
The public could contact the toll free number 1800-4251-1800 which has been set up exclusively to cater to clarifications regarding Aadhaar and UID enrolment. The details of UID enrolment and all other clarifications can also be obtained from the Citizen Call Centre, Govt. of Kerala @ 0471-155300.
Discussions regarding setting up of permanent enrollment centres and updation centres all over Kerala is going on for those who have already received Aadhaar numbers and for those who are still to enroll for Aadhaar. Enrollment of bedridden is on its pilot in Ernakulam district. It is soon to be rolled out to all the districts of Kerala. The enrolling team will visit the houses of the bedridden and will enroll them to Aadhaar.
e-Aadhaar document is digitally signed using certificate issued by NIC as per IT Act, 2000. Further, all the data printed in e-Aadhaar letter, is the same data as printed in Aadhaar letter. In view of the above, e-Aadhaar is a valid and secured electronic document which should be treated at par with printed Aadhaar letter. e-Aadhaar can be used as original for all purposes.
In Kerala, enrollment was completed for more than 90% of the population and UID number has been generated for about 250 lakhs of citizens.
